Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Beero ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Beero mobile application (the "App"). By using Beero, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address, a username, your date of birth (used to verify you are 18 or older), and a unique user identifier. If you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple-issued identifier and either your real email or a private Apple relay email — we never receive your Apple ID password.

Profile content

Information you choose to add — your display name, profile picture, bio, and friend list.

Session and activity data

Beers you log, drink types, sessions, venue selections, timestamps, photos you attach to posts, comments, likes, and people you tag. This is the core data the App is built around.

Location data

Beero requests your location only when you actively use venue search (e.g. tap "Find venues near me"). Your location is used in real time to find nearby bars and is not stored on our servers, tracked in the background, or shared with third parties for advertising. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Device and technical data

Standard data needed to operate the App reliably: app version, iOS version, device model, and crash diagnostics. We do not use third-party analytics or ad-tracking SDKs.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To provide the core features of the App (sessions, friends, venues, posts)
• To verify you meet the minimum age requirement (18+)
• To find nearby venues when you request them
• To deliver notifications you've opted into (e.g. friend requests, tags)
• To investigate and prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our terms

3. Third-Party Services

Beero relies on a small number of third-party services to operate. We share only the data necessary for these services to function:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, and crash reporting. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Sign in with Apple — optional sign-in method. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
• Apple MapKit — primary venue search powered by Apple's local search.
• Google Places API — fallback venue search. Subject to Google's privacy policy.

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account and session data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account), your account, sessions, posts, and associated data are permanently deleted from our servers, typically within 30 days. Some anonymized or aggregated information may be retained for analytics or legal purposes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and edit — view and update your profile data inside the App at any time
• Delete your account — Settings → Account → Delete Account permanently removes your data
• Location permission — revoke at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services
• Notifications — manage in iOS Settings or in-app
• Data requests — for any other request (export, correction, restriction), email us at hello@beero.app

6. Children's Privacy

Beero is intended for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit, and store data on Google Firebase's secured infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and respond promptly to any incident.

8. International Users

Beero is operated from Ireland. If you use Beero from outside Ireland, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries where data-protection laws may differ from your own.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app or by email.
